Phase Two: 5oh2 Under $20

Two of three phases.

We are creating a calendar of the restaurants listed in our Black Business Eatery Map. We collaborated on this interactive map with the Center for Neighborhoods. We will highlight these restaurants throughout the entire year. We’re eating a meal under $20 to bring attention to all the great Black-owned restaurants that feed our community while being able to dine on a budget!

Our First Stop

was at Boujie Biscuit for our January Board Meeting! We enjoyed their boujie biscuits and gravy (some with egg and others without), sides of chopped bacon, kimbucha, real root beer, voss water, in-house sweet tea, peach tea, & boujie coffee! The atmosphere is beautiful, the energy is positive and the flow was CONSTANT! We even got to meet the owner Ms. Cyndi who hails from Brooklyn, NY.

Next up…

we visited S Bar during a meeting with local Galen Nursing student Latisha Hollings on how we can get nurses involved in our Umoja Project and what efforts we can make to bring real solutions to our unhoused population. S Bar sits on the corner of Dixie Highway and W. Burnett Avenue and is owned by a Black married couple.

Let us know where we should go next:
