LOUISVILLE, KY (April 23, 2023) — Change Today, Change Tomorrow, a Black woman-led non-profit organization based in Louisville, KY, is calling on organizations, particularly news anchors, to support their upcoming KY Gives Day fundraiser. The organization aims to raise $15,000 to advance its mission and provide aid and support to marginalized communities in the city.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, Dawne Gee, a news anchor for Wave 3’s Wave Country, donated $5,000 to the organization during a live interview. Following the donation, Cooking and Compassion provided a $5,000 match to support Change Today, Change Tomorrow’s mission.
The organization is grateful for the generous donations and is calling on other organizations, particularly news anchors, to follow Gee’s example and support their cause. Change Today, Change Tomorrow hopes to secure additional $5,000 matches to ensure that they reach their fundraising goal on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
“We are grateful to Dawne Gee’s nonprofit A Recipe to End Hunger and Cooking & Compassion for their support,” said a spokesperson for Change Today, Change Tomorrow. “Their contributions bring us closer to our goal of supporting marginalized communities in our city. We call on other organizations, especially news anchors, to not only talk about our upcoming KY Gives Day fundraiser but also provide additional $5,000 matches. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have been counted out.”
The organization believes that by working together, they can create a more just and equitable society for all. They encourage organizations to visit their website at change-today.org to learn more about their mission and how they can support their cause.
